Nigel thank you very much, it is nearly fixed now.
The problem with running in consoles I have eliminated by removing a
FONT command which was intended to caompress the text, but it never worked
properly in recent times anyway.
THe problem with X I need help please.
If I suspend from an X-window and then resume, I get a badly sized window
which has unreadeable text across the top and lots of flashing.
If I exit out of there back to console, and run the little magic script
and then start X again I get good windows, but I would like to have
the ones that were there when I hibernated.
The Magic script
http://nomadic.null.li/intel/1280patch.c
"Fixes the i810-series video BIOS" &
" * shadow the VBIOS into system RAM and then modify it."
It does that so that X will be able to manage a modeline for
1280 by 768 for this widescreen laptop, which I added to its xorg.conf.
So where can I put the call to that script so that the windows will
be restored correctly?
Please advise if I need to tell you more than this
thank you
clare
