Here's info about my conf. I've tried with gentoo, back to ubuntu : same issue
My last try was a kernel with all I can make in modules for acpi. rmmod of
battery, ac_power and fan before suspending : same issue
My kernel is default linux-source provided by ubuntu hardy
cat /proc/cmdline
resume2=/dev/hda2 root=/dev/hda3 acpi=off ro quiet splash
(works here with acpi=off, but...)
uname -a
Linux emilia 2.6.24.3.2 #1 Thu Jul 10 13:08:26 CEST 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Like I said before, using a 2.6.25 on gentoo gives the exact same issue, default
hibernate/suspend disk on ubuntu (swsusp) : exact same issue
If you've a similar product, can you go to your bios and give the version ?
It'll be something like KG.M1.XX
